Background

Michael Bloomberg co-founded Bloomberg L.P. in 1981 as a financial data firm to sell market data to Wall Street; he launched Bloomberg Business News in 1990 alongside journalist Matthew Winkler, who served as editor-in-chief for decades, primarily to serve the company's Terminal subscribers.
