Banking Dive
U.S. trade press, non-ideological
Background
Banking Dive was launched by Industry Dive, a Washington, D.C.-based B2B media company co-founded in 2012 by Sean Griffey, Eli Dickinson, and Ryan Willumson. Industry Dive built a portfolio of vertical trade publications across more than 25 industries, with Banking Dive among its financial-sector titles. The company was self-funded at first, then took on a majority private-equity stake from Charlotte-based Falfurrias Capital Partners in 2019, which backed further acquisitions. In July 2022, Informa plc — a large U.K. events and business intelligence company — acquired Industry Dive for approximately $530 million; the deal closed September 1, 2022, and Banking Dive became part of Informa's Informa Tech division. Banking Dive reaches a professional audience of banking executives, compliance officers, and analysts, and its journalism centers on regulation, M&A, fintech partnerships, and earnings. Media Bias/Fact Check rates it 'Least Biased' with 'High' factual reporting, consistent with its trade-press model that prioritizes sourced, industry-relevant news over opinion or advocacy. The outlet accepts guest opinion columns from industry practitioners but does not produce its own editorial opinion pieces.
