Background

Blaze Media traces its roots to 2011, when Glenn Beck left Fox News and launched GBTV, a subscription internet-TV network. In 2012 the network rebranded as TheBlaze and added a cable channel. In December 2018, TheBlaze merged with CRTV LLC — a competing conservative streaming service co-founded by radio and Fox News host Mark Levin — to form Blaze Media, billed as the largest independent conservative multiplatform media company in the United States. The merged company is headquartered in Las Vegas and claims a monthly multi-platform reach of more than 165 million people across TV, streaming, podcasts, and social media. In October 2023 Blaze Media overhauled its business model, shifting its news content to subscribers only and dropping advertising, positioning itself as independent from Big Tech platforms and mainstream advertisers. The outlet has consistently promoted conservative and nationalist positions, including skepticism of mainstream media, opposition to progressive cultural policies, and support for restrictive immigration enforcement.
