Broadband TV News
Non-partisan trade press (UK/Netherlands-based, international TV industry)
Background
Broadband TV News was founded in 2003 by former Cable & Satellite Europe journalists Robert Briel, Julian Clover and Chris Dziadul. It operates from the UK and the Netherlands. Its coverage focuses on pay-TV, broadcasting, streaming, satellite, and the technology and business deals behind them. Dziadul is known for covering Central and Eastern European TV markets and was among the first Western trade journalists to do so. Robert Briel is also associated with the site as a co-founder. The site mostly reports company announcements, market data, carriage deals and regulatory developments, so its perspective is that of the industry it covers rather than a political one. Coverage that touches government is usually limited to media regulation, spectrum and trade policy. I could not verify its revenue model or any changes of ownership, and I found no notable editorial controversies. It has no known connection to BroadbandTV Corp, the Canadian digital media company.
