Business Today was launched in 1992 by Living Media India Limited (India Today Group), founded in 1975 by Aroon Purie, as India's economy opened up under liberalization. It quickly became one of India's leading business fortnightlies, competing with titles like Business World and Business India, and later expanded into a major digital property, businesstoday.in, under the same group that publishes India Today magazine and runs India Today TV.
