U.S. center-left (shifting under new ownership)
CBS News is the broadcast news division of the CBS television network, now owned by Paramount Skydance after Skydance Media's 2025 acquisition of Paramount Global. Historically rated center-left by major media-bias analysts, its editorial direction has shifted since late 2025, when new owner David Ellison appointed Bari Weiss—founder of the independent outlet The Free Press—as editor-in-chief. Its posture toward the Trump administration is now mixed: the parent company settled a Trump lawsuit and some segments critical of the administration were pulled, while the newsroom has continued some independent reporting.
