The Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) is a Washington, D.C. nonprofit think tank that advocates for lower immigration levels, funded mainly by private foundations rather than government or corporate money. Its research and staff commentary consistently back stricter enforcement, aligning closely with the Trump administration's immigration agenda, though it has at times criticized specific officials as not tough enough.
