DatacenterDynamics
global industry trade (apolitical)
Background
DatacenterDynamics was founded in 1998 by George Rockett in London, initially as a trade magazine for colocation and data center professionals — one of the first publications dedicated to the sector. Over the following two decades it expanded from print into digital news, conferences, training, and consulting, growing into what it describes as the world's largest data center media platform with over one million professional readers globally. It operates under the parent brand InfraXmedia, which Rockett leads as Managing Partner and which also owns the events brand Yotta. In April 2025 InfraXmedia acquired SDxCentral, a U.S.-based digital infrastructure news site, broadening its reach into software-defined networking coverage. In 2026 InfraXmedia further acquired Data Center Nation (DCN), a publication focused on national data center ecosystems across the EMEA region. DCD's revenue comes primarily from advertising, sponsored events, and B2B services rather than subscriptions or state funding, giving it a commercial incentive to maintain access and goodwill across the industry it covers. Its editorial coverage is technical and sector-specific; it does not publish opinion on partisan political matters, though it does analyze the regulatory and policy environment as it affects data center investment, energy use, and supply chains.
