Dave Keating
Brussels-based transatlantic/EU-integrationist commentator
Background
Keating moved to Brussels in 2010 after earlier reporting stints covering London's financial sector, the US Congress, Paris, Prague, Chicago courts and New York City. He edited European Voice, a Brussels-focused political publication that was owned by The Economist Group before it shut down in 2015. Since then he has built a multi-outlet career as a specialist EU energy and climate reporter, writing regularly for Forbes, Energy Monitor (part of the Euractiv/GlobalData-linked network), Euractiv and the New Statesman, while serving as France 24's Brussels correspondent. He is also a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, a NATO-aligned Washington think tank. He has been ranked among the top EU-focused social media influencers in Brussels press circles in recent years. His body of work consistently favors EU climate ambition, single-market cohesion and close US-EU ties, and he has been a vocal skeptic of Trump-administration energy and trade policy, including the 2025 EU-US tariff-and-energy-purchase deal, which he and other analysts have characterized as unrealistic and misaligned with European climate goals.
