Background
Dave Keating is originally from the New York City area and holds degrees from NYU and Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. He moved to Brussels around 2010 and built a career covering EU politics, previously serving as editor of EuropeanVoice.com, a publication affiliated with The Economist. He is the Brussels correspondent for France 24 and a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, and has written for outlets including Euractiv, the New Statesman, Energy Monitor, and World Politics Review. Gulf Stream Blues launched as a Substack newsletter focused on European life and politics from a self-avowed European federalist standpoint. As of mid-2026 it has roughly 2,400 subscribers.
