DutchNews.nl was founded in 2006 by journalist Robin Pascoe, who had trained with the BBC and worked for VisNews (Reuters Television), the Dutch news agency ANP, and the Financieele Dagblad. It was established to serve the growing English-speaking expat population in the Netherlands, filling a gap for accessible English-language Dutch news. Pascoe ran the outlet independently for nearly 20 years, building it into a respected daily source for international residents. In early 2026, Pascoe decided to step back, and effective January 1, 2026, Dutch News BV was acquired by IamExpat Media BV, a privately held Amsterdam-based company co-founded by four Greek internationals who built a network of expat-focused English-language platforms across the Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland. The editorial team, led by editor-in-chief Louis Gore-Langton, remained in place under new ownership. The outlet is funded through advertising, sponsored content, and reader contributions, with no claimed state support.
