Background

DutchNews.nl was founded in 2006 by Robin Pascoe, a journalist trained at the BBC who had worked for VisNews (Reuters Television), the Dutch news agency ANP and the Financieele Dagblad. It was published by Dutch News BV in Amsterdam and aimed at English-speaking residents, businesses and foreign readers who want Dutch news. For about 20 years Pascoe was both owner and editor. Revenue came from advertising, sponsored content and reader donations, not from the state. In early 2026 IamExpat Media acquired the company. Dutch News BV has been part of the IamExpat Media BV group since 1 January 2026. Pascoe said it was time to move on, and the announcement promised continued independent journalism. Media-bias rating sites (not reviewed in full here) generally class it as center or mildly center-left with high factual reporting. Its coverage of U.S. politics is limited, and I could not verify specific recent examples. Whether the new ownership will change the editorial approach is not yet clear.
