Endpoints News was founded in 2016 by John Carroll, a longtime biopharma journalist who previously edited FierceBiotech, and Arsalan Arif, a media entrepreneur. The two built it without outside investors, splitting ownership equally and reaching profitability early by combining a free daily newsletter with premium subscription content. By the time of its acquisition it had grown to more than 163,000 subscribers — almost entirely biopharma and healthcare professionals — making it one of the most widely read trade outlets in the drug industry. In April 2023, the Financial Times acquired a majority stake, citing shared emphasis on reader-revenue models and business journalism. The FT connection placed Endpoints within a media group known for rigorous, business-focused reporting, and Carroll and Arif have described editorial independence as preserved under the arrangement. The outlet won a General Excellence award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) for its biotechnology, pharma, and healthcare coverage. Its reporting on the Trump administration's second term has tracked FDA staffing cuts, HHS restructuring under RFK Jr., and drug-pricing negotiations with the White House — all from the perspective of how those changes affect the biopharmaceutical industry, without adopting a consistently supportive or oppositional political tone.
