FlightGlobal
UK/Netherlands-based aviation trade, industry-neutral
Background
FlightGlobal launched in February 2006 as the digital home of Flight International magazine—itself founded on January 2, 1909 by Stanley Spooner, making it one of the world's oldest aviation publications. For decades the magazine and its digital extension were owned by Reed Business Information, a unit of the Anglo-Dutch publishing giant Reed Elsevier (later rebranded as RELX). In 2019, RELX divided the FlightGlobal business: the data and analytics arm was retained as Cirium (still a RELX unit), while the publishing titles were sold to DVV Media International, a Belgian-German B2B media group. At the very end of 2025, ProMedia Group—a Dutch professional publisher—acquired FlightGlobal and related transport and HR titles from DVV Media International, becoming the current owner. Flight International magazine, which had been published continuously since 1909, ceased publication at the end of 2025 after transitioning from weekly to quarterly in its final years. FlightGlobal now operates primarily as a digital subscription news and intelligence platform serving airlines, aircraft manufacturers, defense contractors, and other aviation businesses. Its editorial record is that of a trade outlet: it provides factual industry reporting, market analysis, and commentary on regulatory and policy developments, without a discernible political ideology.
