Background

KTVI (channel 2) is a long-running St. Louis station that is now a Fox affiliate. It passed through several owners, including Local TV, which Tribune Broadcasting bought in 2013. Nexstar acquired Tribune Broadcasting in 2019, which brought KTVI and CW station KPLR under Nexstar. The two stations share studios in Maryland Heights, Missouri. In 2025 Nexstar announced a $6.2 billion deal for Tegna. The FCC approved it and it closed on March 19, 2026, which brought KSDK under the same owner as KTVI and KPLR and set off consolidation of St. Louis newsrooms. Nexstar has drawn criticism for consolidation and for centralized corporate content decisions. Fox2Now itself is mainly a local news operation focused on crime, weather, sports and community stories. It is generally described as mainstream local news rather than an ideological outlet. Its political coverage is generally wire-style, and it has no strong editorial line toward the administration. This profile is based on a limited set of sources, and the stance rating is a general characterization, not a systematic content analysis.
