Frontstretch was founded in 1998 by Butch Bellah, a standup comedian who wanted a place to publish humorous writing about NASCAR. Dennis Michelsen joined as its first staff writer, and Ren Jonsin came aboard as webmaster and statistician. Bellah left in 2004 and ownership passed to Jonsin.
