Background

Jim Hoft started the site in 2004 as a Blogspot blog. It grew into a multi-employee operation supported mainly by advertising, and it became a prominent pro-Trump outlet from the 2016 campaign onward. It has a long record of publishing false or unsupported claims. Examples include conspiracy theories about mass shootings and Obama-era figures, and false claims that the 2020 election was stolen. Several of its 2020 election claims led to defamation suits, including one brought by Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss. In April 2024, Hoft's company TGP Communications filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, citing those suits. The case was dismissed in July 2024. Social media platforms have previously suspended the site's accounts. Its content is generally characterized as partisan, conspiratorial and low in factual reliability. Its 2026 coverage largely frames Trump administration actions favorably. It uses terms like "Fake News" for mainstream outlets, and it portrays court rulings against the administration as obstruction. Reporting that Hoft was among plaintiffs in a First Amendment case against the federal government that the Supreme Court decided in 2026 comes from a single search summary, so treat it with caution.
