Background

Global Restructuring Review was launched by Law Business Research (LBR), a London-based legal-intelligence company founded in 1996 that also publishes Global Arbitration Review, Global Competition Review, and other specialist legal titles. LBR was acquired by U.S. private equity firm Levine Leichtman Capital Partners (LLCP) in 2018. In 2024, LBR was sold at a reported enterprise value of £660 million, with Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) becoming a co-owner alongside LLCP. In March 2025, LBR merged with ALM — the U.S. legal media company that owns publications such as The American Lawyer — combining the two into a global legal intelligence firm of over 900 employees, with ALM's prior backer EagleTree Capital joining the ownership group. GRR is described as the world's only daily news and analysis service on cross-border restructuring and insolvency, offering court coverage, deal analysis, practitioner rankings (the GRR 100), and comparative legal guides. Its editorial board comprises practicing insolvency lawyers and judges, reinforcing a practitioner-focused rather than advocacy-driven orientation. Because it is a paywalled specialist trade title aimed at legal professionals, it does not take positions on political figures or administrations; any coverage of U.S. regulatory or policy changes is framed through the lens of their legal implications for restructuring practitioners.
