Background

Grocery Dive launched in September 2018 as a standalone spinoff from Food Dive, itself one of the original publications of Industry Dive, a B2B media company founded in Washington, D.C. in 2012 by Sean Griffey, Eli Dickinson, and Ryan Willumson. Industry Dive built a portfolio of sector-specific trade sites — including Retail Dive, Restaurant Dive, and Supply Chain Dive — funded by digital advertising aimed at business professionals. Private equity firm Falfurrias Capital Partners took a majority stake in Industry Dive in 2019, and Informa plc acquired the company in 2022 for roughly $525 million. In December 2024, Informa combined Industry Dive with TechTarget (a U.S.-listed B2B tech media company) to form Informa TechTarget, with Informa holding a 57% stake in the combined entity. Grocery Dive has no significant editorial controversies on record; Media Bias/Fact Check rates it as least biased with high factual accuracy. Its editorial character is typical of B2B trade press: straightforward industry news, supply-chain and M&A tracking, and policy coverage filtered through the lens of business impact, without opinion columns or partisan advocacy.
