Haaretz is Israel's oldest daily newspaper, owned mainly by the Schocken family with a 25% minority stake held by Russian-Israeli businessman Leonid Nevzlin. It occupies the liberal-left end of the Israeli media spectrum, consistently favoring a two-state solution and maintaining a critical posture toward right-wing Israeli governments. Its coverage of the Trump administration has been broadly critical, particularly on Middle East policy, at times urging Washington to use its influence more forcefully against Israeli settlement expansion rather than giving the Netanyahu government a free hand.
