Background

iGaming Business was founded in 2003 by Michael Caselli, who built it into one of the most widely cited trade publications for the regulated online gambling sector, covering online casino, sports betting, poker, and bingo markets. Clarion Events acquired it by purchasing Electric Word's 70% stake and Caselli's 5.1% stake for roughly £19.7 million, with Caselli retaining a minority share. Clarion Events itself was acquired by Blackstone in 2017, which had previously been owned by Providence Equity Partners. The outlet evolved from a print-focused bi-monthly magazine with roughly 10,000 copies in circulation to a digital-first platform offering daily news, data dashboards, webinars, and premium intelligence products. In 2024–2025, Clarion Gaming Digital expanded by acquiring Global Gaming Business, broadening its North American reach. The publication also operates sister titles including iGB Affiliate and iGaming Business North America. As a strictly industry-focused B2B outlet, iGaming Business covers government regulation only as it affects the gambling sector and does not engage in broader political commentary or take positions on presidential administrations.
