IranWire

IranWire is a Persian- and English-language news outlet run by the U.S.-registered nonprofit Journalism for Change and founded by journalist Maziar Bahari, who was imprisoned by the Iranian government in 2009. The outlet is overwhelmingly funded by the U.S. State Department and focuses on human rights abuses, censorship, and civil society inside Iran, positioning itself against the Islamic Republic. Its stance toward the Trump administration is mixed: it broadly shares the goal of pressuring the Iranian regime but has not uniformly endorsed U.S. policy approaches, reflecting Bahari's stated skepticism of both the Iranian government and heavy-handed U.S. intervention.
