Island Free Press
U.S. local news, no clear partisan lean
The Island Free Press is a small, locally owned online newspaper serving Hatteras and Ocracoke islands in North Carolina's Outer Banks. It focuses on community, environmental, tourism and local government news, not national politics. I found no evidence of a consistent partisan lean or a distinct posture toward the Trump administration. Any federal coverage is likely local, such as National Park Service, storm and disaster-aid matters.
Owned byPrivately owned, locally. Donna Barnett is publisher and owner. Co-founder Irene Nolan was co-owner and editor until she died in March 2017. I did not find a parent company or any change in ownership since then.
