Background

Jewish Insider was founded in 2015 by Max Neuberger as a Washington, D.C.–focused digital newsletter and news site covering U.S. politics and issues of concern to the American Jewish community. That same year, Tribe Media Corp. — the nonprofit entity that also publishes the Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles — acquired the outlet. Jewish Insider built its audience largely through its weekday morning newsletter, the Daily Kickoff, which aggregates political and communal news for an audience of Jewish communal leaders, policy professionals, and political insiders. In 2021, Jewish Insider expanded its footprint by acquiring eJewishPhilanthropy, a publication focused on the Jewish nonprofit and charitable sector. Media Bias/Fact Check rates the outlet as right-center in editorial lean, crediting it with high factual reliability and strong sourcing practices; AllSides rates it center, reflecting uncertainty about a clear partisan lean on domestic issues. Jewish Insider does not carry a heavy ideological footprint on most domestic U.S. policy questions but consistently covers Israel and U.S.-Israel relations from a perspective sympathetic to Israel's security interests. Coverage of the second Trump administration has been neither broadly supportive nor broadly critical: the outlet has reported approvingly on pro-Israel policy moves while also documenting antisemitic conduct by administration appointees and tensions between the administration and some Jewish advocacy groups.
