Joe.My.God
U.S. left (LGBTQ-focused progressive blog)
Background
Joe Jervis started Joe.My.God in 2004 as a personal blog in New York. It grew into one of the best-known LGBTQ news and politics blogs, and the Los Angeles Blade marked its twentieth anniversary in 2024. It reports roughly 1.3 million monthly visitors. The format is mostly short posts that summarize and link to reporting from other outlets, with Jervis's own comments added. Topics include LGBTQ rights, religious-right activity, HIV and health, New York news, and national politics. Jervis has long criticized anti-LGBTQ figures and organizations, and the blog is openly advocacy-oriented and does not claim neutrality. Ownership and editorial control have stayed with Jervis throughout, and I found no record of outside investors or a parent company. In recent weeks, posts on the Trump administration have covered the White House 'fraud ledger,' Head Start changes, Endangered Species Act changes, deportation plans, funding lawsuits and energy costs, usually in critical terms. Because it relies heavily on other outlets' reporting, its accuracy depends on those sources, and its framing reflects a consistent progressive, LGBTQ-rights perspective. Details on funding are limited in public sources.
