Leeham News
U.S. trade/industry press (commercial aviation; non-partisan)
Background
Leeham News and Analysis (LNA) was founded in February 2008 by Scott Hamilton, a longtime aviation industry executive, consultant, and journalist. Hamilton had co-founded the company Linkraven Ltd. in 1989 and formed Leeham Co LLC in 1999 after Linkraven was sold. LNA grew into a subscription-backed source of analysis on Boeing, Airbus, and other manufacturers, covering aircraft economics, fleet planning, and maintenance. Its readers include manufacturers, lessors, and airlines. In June 2025, AIN Media Group announced it would acquire LNA, and the sale closed on July 17, 2025. LNA keeps its own brand, and the two outlets share some stories. On July 1, 2026, Howard Hardee became editor and Hamilton became editor-at-large, ahead of Hamilton's planned retirement. Leeham Co LLC's consulting work for industry clients is separate from the news operation, which readers may want to weigh when assessing its independence. Its perspective is data-driven and industry-oriented, with no clear partisan slant, and politics appears mainly through trade policy, tariffs, and FAA or certification matters. I did not review its recent coverage of the administration in depth, so the stance rating rests on its trade-press focus.
