Los Alamos Daily Post
U.S. local news, no clear partisan lean
Background
Carol A. Clark launched the Los Alamos Daily Post on Feb. 7, 2012, as an online news outlet for Los Alamos County, New Mexico. It added a weekly print edition in July 2015. The print edition is delivered to homes and businesses in Los Alamos and White Rock and is also available from news racks. The Post says it is the official newspaper of record for Los Alamos County. Its own figures say it draws more than a million monthly page views and has readers in every U.S. state and 129 countries. These are self-reported numbers that I could not verify independently. Clark has held leadership roles in the New Mexico Press Association, and the association named her board president. Its content centers on local government, schools, public safety, community events and the nearby national laboratory, and much of it is submitted releases from agencies, organizations and residents. I did not find documented partisan editorializing or major controversies. Because the outlet is small, its coverage of federal policy mostly appears as it affects the laboratory and the local community.
