Manufacturing Dive
U.S. B2B trade, industry-focused
Background
Industry Dive was founded in Washington, D.C. in 2012 by Sean Griffey, Eli Dickinson, and Ryan Willumson as a B2B newsletter and digital media company targeting niche professional audiences across business verticals. The company bootstrapped its way to profitability before Charlotte-based private equity firm Falfurrias Capital Partners took a majority stake in 2019, fueling acquisitions and expansion. Manufacturing Dive was launched on November 14, 2022, as the 29th publication in the Industry Dive portfolio, targeting senior executives in the manufacturing sector. That same year, Informa PLC, a large UK-based business information and events conglomerate, agreed to acquire Industry Dive for a deal valued at up to $525 million, completing the acquisition in late 2022. In January 2024, Informa announced it would merge its Informa Tech digital businesses — including Industry Dive — with the U.S.-listed B2B tech media firm TechTarget; that combination closed in December 2024, creating Informa TechTarget (Nasdaq: TTGT), in which Informa holds a 57% stake. Manufacturing Dive operates on an advertising-driven model with a newsletter audience of roughly 108,000 industry decision-makers, and its editorial record is that of a straightforward trade publication: it covers policy, labor, supply chain, and technology through a business-impact lens rather than a political one.
