Background
Money was founded in October 1972 by Time Inc. as a monthly print magazine covering personal finance topics such as investing, budgeting, and insurance. It remained a Time Inc. publication for more than four decades until Meredith Corporation acquired Time Inc. in 2018. Meredith ended Money's print edition in June 2019 as part of a broader cost-cutting restructuring. In October 2019, Meredith sold the Money brand and website to Ad Practitioners LLC, a digital advertising and content company founded in 2016 and headquartered in Dorado, Puerto Rico, which also owns ConsumersAdvocate.org. Ad Practitioners rebranded itself as Money Group in August 2022. Under current ownership, Money.com operates as an ad-supported personal finance content platform, with revenue coming from display advertising and affiliate commissions tied to financial product sign-ups. The outlet does not function as a political news organization; its coverage of the Trump administration's second term has focused on the practical wallet impact of policies such as tariffs and interest-rate pressure rather than offering partisan editorial opinion.
