Moodie Davitt Report
UK-based global B2B trade press
Background
The Moodie Davitt Report was founded in 2002 by Martin Moodie, beginning as a weekly email newsletter and PDF targeted at the duty-free and travel retail industry. It was relaunched as the sector's first digital eZine in late 2011 and has since expanded into a multi-platform B2B media house covering web, mobile, eNewsletters, podcasts, and social channels including WeChat and LinkedIn. Dermot Davitt, long-time editor-in-chief, became a co-owner in 2015, and the company was renamed to reflect that partnership. The outlet describes itself as the only global B2B title dedicated to the full travel retail ecosystem — spanning duty-free shopping, food and beverage, airport advertising, foreign exchange, and hospitality. In September 2024, Mark Allen Group, a privately held UK publisher with roughly 100 titles and 250 events, acquired the company's parent entity, Sixth Continent Holdings, for an undisclosed sum; Moodie and Davitt remain in operational roles. The publication has no record of political controversy and functions as a trade press outlet rather than a general-interest or opinion-driven news source.
