NC Department of Public Instruction (press release)

The NC Department of Public Instruction is a North Carolina state government agency responsible for implementing public K–12 education policy under the direction of the State Board of Education and the elected Superintendent. Its press releases are official government communications, not journalism. Under Democratic Superintendent Mo Green (in office since January 2025), the agency has publicly opposed Trump administration moves to freeze or cut federal education funding, including joining a 2025 lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Education.
