NewsBytes
Indian general-news aggregator (no clear partisan tilt)
Background
NewsBytes was founded in 2015 by Romesh Khaddar, Shikha Chaudhry and Sumedh Chaudhry and is based in Gurugram, India. It describes itself as a media-technology company that uses an AI-powered engine to create short news items in multiple languages. Press reports say it raised about $1 million in a pre-Series A round led by MM Inno GmbH, with Powerhouse Ventures and others. It later raised about $1.5 million in a Series A led by North Base Media, and the funding was partly meant to expand into regional languages. Its investors include a European media group and Indian angel networks, but I found no sign of a political or state owner. Its format is short, summary-style stories on India, business, technology, entertainment, sports and world news, much of it rewritten from other outlets. This means its slant mostly follows its sources, and it has no prominent opinion or editorial line. I did not find a major documented controversy about its editorial record, but I could not review its recent U.S. coverage in detail, so the administration stance is an inference from its format.
