Newsquawk
Non-partisan market-news vendor (UK-based, finance-focused)
Background
Newsquawk was founded in 2005 by Mehul Patel and is based in London. It started as a live audio 'squawk' service, which gives traders spoken headlines and context during market hours. Over time it added written news, research notes, event previews and mobile apps, and it now covers markets around the clock. Its customers are mostly professional and retail traders, and it earns its money from subscriptions rather than advertising. Public records show no large ownership changes or outside investors, though I could not fully verify its ownership history. I did not find any notable editorial controversies. It does not publish opinion or political commentary, and it frames news in terms of market moves and consensus expectations. Because of that, it is not usually seen as having a political slant. Its coverage of the Trump administration is limited to market-relevant matters, such as trade policy, Fed commentary and fiscal measures. I did not do a systematic review of that coverage, so this assessment rests on its stated product focus rather than a content analysis. It should be read as a source that comes from a trader's point of view.
