Background

NH Journal was founded in 2010 by Patrick Hynes and other New Hampshire conservatives as a state-level political news outlet. In 2016, InsideSources LLC — a media company that originates and syndicates political news — acquired NH Journal and relaunched it ahead of the New Hampshire presidential primary. InsideSources, itself founded in 2014, also operates DC Journal and DV Journal under the same network umbrella. Michael Graham, a conservative radio veteran and Boston Herald columnist, has served as Managing Editor and is the outlet's most prominent voice. Media Bias/Fact Check rates NH Journal as Right-Center in bias and Mostly Factual in reporting, noting that its story selection and opinion content lean moderately conservative and that it occasionally uses loaded language in headlines. The outlet has drawn scrutiny for limited transparency about its ownership structure and revenue sources. Ground News independently rates it as Lean Right. NH Journal is a member of the New Hampshire Press Association and focuses heavily on state and regional politics, including primary election coverage for which New Hampshire has outsized national significance.
