Oncology News Central
U.S. specialty medical trade
Background
The site originated as OBR Oncology (short for Oncology Business Review), a specialized digital outlet covering oncology clinical developments and the business side of cancer care. It was acquired by Remedy Health Media — a digital health media company that also operates brands like HealthCentral.com and TheBody.com — around 2020. In September 2021, Amulet Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on healthcare, acquired Remedy Health Media from its prior owner Topspin Consumer Partners. In June 2023, Remedy Health Media rebranded as HealthCentral Corporation, named after its flagship consumer health property. In May 2024, OBR Oncology was itself rebranded as Oncology News Central to better reflect its scope as a broad oncology news hub. The outlet targets practicing oncologists with coverage of breaking clinical news, FDA drug approvals and withdrawals, oncology conference summaries, and physician lifestyle content. Its business model relies heavily on pharmaceutical advertising, which is typical of healthcare professional (HCP) media properties. Because it is a medical trade publication rather than a general news outlet, it does not have a political editorial orientation and its coverage of administration healthcare policy is incidental and largely factual.
