PolitiFact is a nonprofit fact-checking outlet owned by the Poynter Institute and funded by grants, partnerships, ads and donations. Media-bias raters generally place it center-left. Its recent record shows mostly negative ratings of Trump administration claims, though it has rated some Trump claims favorably, such as a "Mostly True" on U.S. oil output in April 2026. Conservative critics say its ratings fall more heavily on Republicans.
