Background

The Pravda network, known to the French agency VIGINUM as Portal Kombat, began around 2013 with sites aimed at Russian and Ukrainian localities such as Crimea, St. Petersburg, Kyiv and Dagestan. It later grew into language and country editions, including pravda-en.com, and by 2024 NewsGuard counted about 150 domains in dozens of languages. Researchers say it does not produce original content. It republishes and auto-translates material from Russian state media (such as RT, RIA and Sputnik), Telegram channels (as much as 75% of its material), and pro-Kremlin figures, at a scale of millions of articles per year. Forensic analysis linked it to the Crimea-based company TigerWeb. Its human readership is small. One report put pravda-en.com at roughly 955 monthly unique visitors. Its main concern for researchers is "LLM grooming": flooding the web with pro-Kremlin text so AI chatbots absorb and repeat it. A 2025 NewsGuard audit found 10 major chatbots repeated its falsehoods about 33% of the time. NewsGuard gives the network a trust score of 7.5 out of 100. Other analysts, including ISD, have noted that the actual spread of its content through citations is more limited than the headline figures suggest. It should be read as a Kremlin-aligned amplification channel, not as a news organization with an independent editorial voice. I could not verify a recent, measured record of its Trump-administration coverage, so the stance label is a cautious judgment based on its aggregation model.
