pv magazine
pro-renewable energy industry trade press (Germany-based, global)
Background
pv magazine was launched in 2008 in Berlin by Solarpraxis AG, a German solar consultancy and events company founded by Karl-Heinz Remmers. It was created as an international trade publication for the photovoltaic industry and quickly expanded into multiple regional editions. In 2015, the publication was spun off from Solarpraxis AG into an independent entity, pv magazine group GmbH & Co. KG, under publisher Eckhart Gouras. The publication has since grown to cover 12 regional markets including the U.S., Germany, Australia, India, China, Brazil, and several European and Latin American countries. In 2024, pv magazine launched ESS News, a dedicated energy storage platform. As a trade publication, it serves solar industry professionals — developers, manufacturers, investors, and policymakers — and its editorial line consistently supports expansion of renewable energy. During Trump's first and second terms, its coverage has framed administration actions on energy as setbacks for clean energy development, documenting impacts on the Inflation Reduction Act and renewable investment. It has no known political party affiliation, but its industry focus places it in structural opposition to fossil-fuel-friendly policies.
