Background

Rolling Out began in 1998 as a free weekly print newspaper started by Munson Steed to give African American audiences more media representation, according to Wikipedia and Steed Media Group. It first circulated in Atlanta and later expanded to other U.S. urban markets and to digital platforms. Steed Media Group has since grown to offer custom content, conferences, publishing and media advisory services. The outlet says it reaches over 2 million monthly unique digital visitors and prints in over 20 U.S. cities; these are self-reported figures I could not verify independently. It covers culture, entertainment, business, health, politics and social justice, with a large share of lifestyle, celebrity and service-style content such as bank holiday guides. Its news section carries stories on Trump and on the 2026 Georgia Senate race, but these appear to be mostly general news coverage, not strong opinion. It celebrated its 25th anniversary in November 2025 and launched Rolling Out Music in 2026, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. I did not find documented major controversies or ownership changes. Its perspective is Black-community-centered and commercially driven. Because I could not review a large sample of its recent political coverage, the administration stance is a limited-evidence judgment.
