The Salt Lake Tribune
U.S. center-left
The Salt Lake Tribune is a nonprofit, board-governed news organization — the first major U.S. daily newspaper to receive IRS 501(c)(3) status, which it did in 2019. It leans center-left editorially and endorsed Democratic presidential candidates in every election from 2008 through 2024. Its editorial board has been broadly critical of the Trump administration's second term, including characterizing administration-aligned conduct as corruption in May 2026.
Owned byThe Salt Lake Tribune, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation governed by a board of directors; no single owner. Paul Huntsman transferred control to the nonprofit structure after purchasing the paper in 2016.
