Background

TrendForce was founded in Taipei in 2000, and its memory-pricing unit DRAMeXchange has covered DRAM and NAND flash markets since then. It has been present in China since 2004, with offices in Shenzhen and Beijing. Over time it grew into six research divisions: DRAMeXchange, WitsView, LEDinside, EnergyTrend, AVANTI and Topology. It acquired the research firm Topology in 2015 to expand overseas and in China. Kevin Lin is its founder and CEO. It earns money by selling research and data to technology firms and financial institutions, and it publishes free press releases and news that serve partly as marketing for those paid products. Its forecasts, such as DRAM contract prices and shipment estimates, are widely cited by trade and financial media. Its perspective is that of an industry analyst focused on supply, demand and pricing, and its government-policy commentary covers trade restrictions, tariffs and subsidies mainly for their market effects. I found no major editorial controversies, though I did not verify its recent coverage of the second Trump administration in detail. Its forecasts are commercial estimates and can be revised.
