U.S. Census Bureau / HUD

Both the Census Bureau and HUD are executive branch agencies that report to the President and implement administration policy. The Census Bureau, established permanently in 1902 under the Department of Commerce, collects and publishes demographic and economic data; HUD, founded in 1965 as part of Lyndon Johnson's Great Society, administers federal housing assistance programs. As agencies of the executive branch, both operate under and carry out the priorities of the current Trump administration, though the Census Bureau has faced significant pressure from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) that has raised concerns among data professionals about institutional independence.
