UPI is a historic wire service owned since 2000 by News World Communications, a company tied to the Unification Church. Its content is mostly short, straight-news items with little opinion, and bias raters such as AllSides, Media Bias/Fact Check and Ground News place it at or near the center. Its coverage of the second Trump administration is largely neutral and wire-style, not clearly critical or supportive.
Owned byNews World Communications, a media company founded by Unification Church leader Sun Myung Moon in 1976. It bought UPI in 2000. The same company has owned The Washington Times (it sold that paper in 2025) and owns Segye Ilbo (South Korea) and Sekai Nippo (Japan). Public sources I found do not say how UPI's ownership has been structured in recent years.
