Vision Times began in 2001 as the website secretchina.com, created to give overseas Chinese readers news free of Chinese Communist Party censorship. In 2006 it launched weekly print editions in the U.S. and Australia (as Vision China Times) in cities with large Chinese communities, and it later developed an English-language site, Vision Times.
