The World Food Programme is a United Nations humanitarian body, governed by an intergovernmental executive board and financed entirely by voluntary donations, historically dominated by the United States. The Trump administration (second term) cut U.S. contributions by more than half, ended long-standing food-aid programs, and proposed eliminating others, prompting WFP to issue stark public warnings that the cuts could cause mass starvation.
