Australian pro-Western, defense-hawk
ASPI is an Australian government-established think tank that publishes The Strategist, a daily commentary and analysis site covering defense, security, and strategic policy. It is funded primarily by Australia's Department of Defence and, until 2025, by U.S. government agencies. ASPI is broadly hawkish on China and pro-Western alliance, but its relationship with the Trump administration has been complicated by a 2025 U.S. funding freeze that halted much of its China-related research.
