Consumer Reports (advocacy division)

Consumer Reports Advocacy is the policy and lobbying arm of Consumer Reports, Inc., an independent nonprofit. Though the parent organization describes itself as nonpartisan, its advocacy division receives significant funding from progressive foundations and has historically pushed for stronger government regulation of business. Since January 2025, it has been broadly critical of the Trump administration, particularly opposing the rollback of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, deregulation of auto fuel economy standards, and other consumer-protection cutbacks.
