FDD's Long War Journal is the terrorism and military-conflict reporting arm of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a hawkish, pro-Israel think tank funded by private donors and foundations. Its coverage is analytic and focuses on jihadist groups, Iran and its proxies. Its parent organization is closely aligned with the Trump administration's hard line on Iran, though FDD analysts have publicly criticized specific administration moves. The journal's own coverage is mostly operational reporting and is less openly partisan than FDD's policy commentary.
