Federation for American Immigration Reform

FAIR is a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit advocacy organization, not a traditional news outlet, that publishes reports, studies, and policy arguments aimed at drastically reducing both legal and illegal immigration to the United States. Founded in 1979 by physician and activist John Tanton, it operates on the restrictionist right of the immigration debate and has been labeled a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center since 2008, a designation FAIR disputes. During the Trump administration's second term, FAIR has functioned as a close policy ally, actively collaborating with the White House and Congress to advance restrictionist immigration legislation.
