Finimize
Non-partisan UK-based retail investing and markets explainer; business-friendly, market-focused
Background
Max Rofagha and Scott Tindle founded Finimize in London in 2015. It began as a short daily email that explained financial news in plain language for younger and first-time investors. It raised roughly $2.5 million in seed funding in 2016 and 2017 and grew to more than a million newsletter subscribers. It later added a paid app with premium analysis, courses and portfolio-style content. In October 2021, abrdn (now Aberdeen Group) bought it for about £87 million, kept the brand separate, and put Rofagha on its leadership team. Under new CEO Jason Windsor, Aberdeen moved to simplify the group and in 2025 reportedly entered exclusive talks to sell Finimize. The sale was completed as a management buyout in December 2025. Its content is general market commentary rather than political reporting, and it is mostly neutral and market-focused. Its content carries general-information disclaimers, and it is not a regulated adviser. Its sponsors and affiliations are worth checking, as it has been owned by an asset manager.
