RFE/RL is a nonprofit international broadcaster based in Prague and funded by Congress through a USAGM grant. It reports in about two dozen languages, mainly for audiences in countries with limited press freedom, and is largely editorially independent of the administration. It is in a funding and legal dispute with the Trump administration, but its coverage is not simply for or against the White House. It reports on U.S. policy mostly through the lens of its effects on its target regions.
Owned byRFE/RL, Inc., a private, nonprofit corporation headquartered in Prague. It operates under a grant agreement with the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), a federal agency. A bipartisan board oversees USAGM and its grantees, but that board has been sidelined during the second Trump term.
